How to enable "Global filtering using chart data point" in a dashboard?

Hi,

I have a dashboard where I have multiple panels. I want the selection of a point on a curve to filter the other panels. The help topic doesn't explain fully how to enable this and I don't seem to get it to work properly, even though the panels have analysis filters on the same data parameter. There must be something that I am missing. 

Anyone having an experience with this?
